es Profesor
Titular de Teoría la Forma en la
Escuela de Diseño Industrial de la Universidad de Los Andes (ULA) de Venezuela;
investigador acreditado ante el Observatorio Nacional de Ciencia, Tecnología
e Innovación de Venezuela y Coordinador del Grupo de
Investigaciones Socioculturales del Diseño en Venezuela (GISODIV)
de la ULA. Rafael
es un Arquitecto con estudios de posgrado en Semiótica y Artes Visuales en la ULA (Venezuela),
Especialización en Historia del Diseño y Cultura Material (University of
Brighton, Inglaterra), Maestría de Artes en Diseño Industrial y Doctorado en
Diseño de Productos (ambos por la Birmingham City University, Inglaterra). A lo
largo de su carrera académica ha sido Jefe del Departamento de Teoría y
Metodología para el Diseño Industrial (1999-2001) y Director de la Escuela de Diseño
Industrial (2005-2008) de la
Facultad de Arquitectura y Diseño de la ULA, Venezuela.

Resume
RAFAEL LACRUZ-RENGEL is Professor
of Design Theory at the School
of Industrial Design of University of Los Andes (ULA) in Venezuela. He is also a researcher
registered in the National Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation
of Venezuela and the Head of the Group of Socio-cultural Studies of Design in Venezuela (GISODIV) at ULA. Rafael holds a
Bachelor (Hons) of Architecture from ULA (Venezuela), a Postgraduate
Diploma in Design History and Material Culture from the University of
Brighton (UK), a Master of Arts in
Industrial Design and a PhD in Product Design, both from the Birmingham City
University (UK) and postgraduate studies on Semiotics and The Visual
Arts from ULA. Throughout his academic
career he has been appointed Head of the Department of Theory and Methodology
of Industrial Design (1999-2001) and Head of the School
of Industrial Design (2005-2008) at
the Faculty of Architecture and Design of ULA, Venezuela.

Socio-cultural constraints for designing.
